Teaching kids Empathy.

The main objectives with creating the lesson plans are to combat bias-based problems typically bred from default mindsets. Our leading question throughout the project is: How do we create content that stops negative default mindsets from forming in children or changing the mindset early on? The BPA set out to create engaging, age-appropriate, and creative lesson plans for the K-2 and 3-5 age groups. Aiming to make a positive impact towards how the kids see people in the future. In the lessons we cover five concepts of bias (see below.)

core subjects

(left to right) Jessie, Will, Mila, Emma, and Rahil are going to teach kids about their differences to help them understand what life looks like for themselves and others. When we start to understand what life looks like for people who are similar and different from us, we can begin to show empathy and become anti-bias heroes.
